As my sister Isabella told me, when she came to the USA with Mom and Dad in the late 1930's my parents left their home in Italy to establish opportunities for our family. But unfortunately, they had to struggle every day to provide our family with the basics like food, shelter and an education. It turned out to be a very hard life for my parents.
(inaplacecalledbrooklyn.com Chapter 77) "My sister went on to say, that her Godfather, our grandmother Isabella Cornacchiulo brother Uncle Tomaso was a genius; he was so smart that he was sponsored at sixteen-years- old to attend a University in Rome. Over the years he earned three degrees, in Science, Math, and Literature. His Happenstance and Luck was due to his mentors. It didn't exlude his hard work and devotion to making the most of his oportunity. He became a professor at the University, he also made investments that grew and grew.
The last big project he completed was to build the first Macy style department store in Rome, called CIM, with escalators."
Everything he touched turned to gold, but he never forgot where he came from. He also paid for my sisters education in Italy before our family left for America. I can go on and on about his accomplishments, but the most important part of the story is that he is always there to help his family in a crisis. Our family had serious finascial problems when my father could not find any work for almost a year. My father was too proud to ask his Uncle Tomaso for help. So my mother had to step in, without my fathers knowledge, Mom cabled Uncle Tomaso for assistance and his response was overwhelming. That is why we can be
very thankful this Thanksgiving. God Bless Uncle Tomaso."
